Under supervision, the Anesthesia Technician maintains the machinery, equipment and supplies necessary for the delivery of anesthesia; assists the Anesthesiologist with the technical setup preparatory to the induction of anesthesia and performs other related duties.
- Cleans and maintains all anesthesia equipment
- Delivers and registers non-controlled and controlled medications IV Solutions and sets in the automated med-station for direct dispensing by Anesthesia, following departmental procedure, security and accountability practices
- Disassemble, decontaminate and sterilize anesthesia equipment and supplies
- Cleans and sterilizes surgical instruments according to OR policy/procedure as needed and applying knowledge of sterile technique
- Maintains current knowledge base of technical aspect of Anesthesia equipment and materials
- Maintains par levels, and inventories
- Appropriately prioritizes responsibilities
- Facilitates OR efficiency by timely room turnover of anesthesia supplies (replacing all disposables, stocking of anesthesia carts
- During times of alternative staffing, (sick calls, vacations), work is prioritized to assure all customer needs are met
- Coordinates evaluation of new equipment and supplies with anesthesia providers
